Is it selfish and immoral to have children?

Well, I agree overall to what you say. The choice to have children is based upon a fantasy that love lasts forever, and that there will be family here always to look out for you. Sometimes it works out that way, sometimes you can have nine kids none of whom visit you in a nursing home. You can have kids with birth defects, personality defects, etc. Nothing is guaranteed, and its like rolling the dice. And overall, yes, life consists of little happiness and much suffering. If you think carefully, you will come to the conclusion that the best gift you can give your children is to not have them in the first place. Its bad enough that somebody made the grave error in bringing us into this mess, why pass it on to some other poor schmuck that will just continue this rant in a future generation. It's obvious humans are wrecking the planet, fouling their own nest. Just live life and screw the rest, you don't need to put yourself on an altar for another human being to feel like you are justified by doing so
